Golf Course Improvements at the Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Club, Suffolk

Aldeburgh, Suffolk, 22/07/2011: For golfers who are keen for a round or two now the weather is improving, you’ll be pleased to hear that the course at Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Club has seen a number of improvements over the winter months, and with some great golf offers at the moment such as 15% off weekend golf breaks and Summer Green Fee offers, the time is just right.

The Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Club is a perfect hotel in Suffolk for a short break or weekend break with one of the best courses in East Anglia, and it doesn’t matter if you’re not a keen golfer as there is so much to do in Thorpeness. Set in a peaceful location next to the Meare and just five minutes from the beach, Thorpeness has a lot to offer for a family break.

On the 11th Hole, there are three new fairway bunkers and the Greenside bunker has been removed from the front and a new bunker constructed at the front left side of the green. The two existing front bunkers have been reshaped and a new swale (runoff area) has been dug on the left side of the green.

The 12th Hole has now got a new fairway bunker and the bunker front right of the green has been filled in and a new bunker built to the right of the green. A large contoured swale has been created to the back left continuing around the green to the front and the three bunkers short of the green have been reconditioned.

On the 13th Hole the fairway bunker on the left has been moved out of the ruff and slightly on to the fairway and a new bunker has been built 270yds from the tee on the right of the fairway. The two pot bunkers short of the green have been reconditioned in front of the 13th green and the fairway has been shaped to gather poorly hit shots into the old pit.

On the 14th Hole he fairway bunkers on the left of the fairway and on the corner of the dogleg have been filled in and a new bunker has been built on the right of the fairway about 260 from the tee.

The fairway has been widened on the 15th Hole near the tree and two new bunkers have been built on the right of the fairway and the bunker front right of the green has been renovated.

On the 17th a new fairway bunker has been built on the hill and the three bunkers in front of the green have renovated.
