During the Cannes Film Festival Amir, who was conferred the ‘Newsmakers Achievers Award’ recently presented his collections titled ‘Terra Mater’ at the Cannes Fashion Nites
\"My ‘Terra Mater’ collection portrayed the heritage, culture, and tradition of India while imbibing the western attitude,\" Mumbai-based Amir said.
\"I strived to capture that essence and sew it to perfection one stitch at a time. I am inspired by meeting and dressing individuals from across the globe,\" Amir said.
“All pieces were handcrafted using the finest fabrics and materials sourced from across India, accessorized with authentic Indian folk jewelry and add-ons like kohl, sindoor,” he said about his designs.
\"My omnibus of designs for the \'Terra Mater\' or \'Mother Earth\' line collection primarily sprang from the rudiments of nature and from royal Mughal attire of antiquity. The Jama and its close cousin the Angarakha, were developed following impulses received from Persian courts and imbibed into the Mughal courts. Taking a cue from those lines and cuts, I had given it my own tweak,” the ace designer said.
